Life Off the Grid 14 - June 27, 2012

June 27, 2012

Our big thing for the day was getting the solar panels to the cabin. Not a straightforward proposition. They had to be loaded into the back of the truck, along with the batteries (with all kinds of hungry buzzy things flying at us), and driven to the boat launch (where even more hungry buzzy things were waiting). They had to be unloaded and stacked on the dock. Then we drove back to the parking area and went down to our dock. Boated back to the boat launch – paddling and poling through the narrows between the lakes – and loaded the solar panels and batteries into the boat. And back again, this time against the current in the narrows. Finally back to our dock and then to unload and carry the panels and batteries up to the cabin.

Then much needed R&R. Quadding and boating.

We stopped at what was (is?) a First Nations fishing camp

Beautiful lake

And dinner. And guitar playing. Lots of guitar playing.
